About us
We are a fast, experienced and interdisciplinary crew of qualified merchants and engineers. For the last 15 or more years we have been specialising consistently in advising companies on how to obtain funding and finance for their projects. We guide them in all aspects related to funding, accompanying them through all phases of the award process – from submission of the application through the granting of financial support to follow-up support and the final report. We also provide support in the subsequent implementation and coordination of the project.
Christoph Pfaff
Managing Director

Christoph Pfaff held an active, responsible position in an Augsburg management consultancy even while still at university. This was followed by roles in a number of companies, before he took over as managing director of the international family-run business, Pfaff-Silberblau Hebezeugfabrik, in 1996. Until its successful sale in 2008, Christoph Pfaff served as the main shareholder of Pfaff-Silberblau Beteiligungs-GmbH and as a member of its supervisory board.
From 2001 – 2009 Christoph Pfaff worked as co-proprietor of the Beratungskontor Group, where he was the partner responsible for the automotive sector.
He founded CMP Financial Engineers GmbH & Co. KG at the start of 2010. As an expert in funding, he is frequently called upon to give speeches and presentations.
Alexander Brecheisen

After studying business administration, Alexander Brecheisen started his career as a sales executive for an innovative American snowboard manufacturer. Following a stint as international sales director of a leading branded goods manufacturer in Germany, in 2007 Alexander Brecheisen successfully established an agency for sports marketing, focusing on international sales.
He has been a partner at CMP Financial Engineers since 2010, specialising in advising on R&D projects in the automotive, aviation, mechanical engineering and food sectors. Thanks to his international experience, Alexander Brecheisen is also involved in many large, joint cross-border projects as project manager.
Michael Behling

Political scientist
Michael Behling has been working as a consultant in the field of funding consulting for 15 years. He has also worked as a trainer, auditor, consultant, and training manager.
In 2016, Michael Behling was hired as a senior technical manager at CMP in Augsburg and became a partner at CMP on February 1, 2021. He is responsible for the technical processing of application management, and his tasks include the preparation of technical application outlines through to the final submission of applications in close cooperation with the customer and the relevant authorities.
Birger Hammerstein

Master of Business and Engineering
Birger Hammerstein worked in a variety of positions at Siemens AG and the Bosch Group before spending 14 years as commercial director within the VIAG AG and VAW Aluminium AG group of companies.
As managing director of a leading supplier to the automotive industry, he held responsibility for the financing of innovation and capital investment, among other roles, enabling him to gain initial experience with public funding as a financing instrument.
Since 2010 Birger Hammerstein has been advising companies on how to obtain public funding for project financing and on restructuring and financing issues. He has been assisting CMP Financial Engineers as an expert and partner focusing on the North Rhine-Westphalia region since 2013..
Dr. Heinz-Georg Burghoff

After studying physics at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt and gaining a doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysics, Dr. Heinz-Georg Burghoff began his professional career as a developer at Continental AG in Northeim.
In 1980 he moved to what is now Daimler AG, where he initially headed up some research projects before taking on his first managerial role in car development.
In 1996 he led the development of complete electrics/electronics as centre manager, with a workforce of more than 1,000.
Dr. Burghoff has been a freelance consultant since 2004. His work is focused on product and corporate strategy for motor vehicle electronics as well as organisation and project management. Dr. Burghoff has been working closely with Christoph Pfaff on the strategic alignment of CMP in the automotive industry since 2006.
Markus Rundt

Merchant
After studying medicine and business management, Markus Rundt spent more than 10 years on the international circuit as a lecturer in integrated management systems for TÜV Süd Akademie and TÜV Rheinland Akademie, among others.
His focus is on the effect of strategic decisions on people. He is particularly interested in the possibility of the controlled transformation of the current “human value added factor” in the age of Industry 4.0. “Quality 4.0”, the quality movement he initiated, aims to integrate humans symbiotically into corporate processes. A major role here is played by innovative concepts that each developing company must define and implement if a business strategy is to be turned into corporate success through efficient implementation. His core sectors are automotive, food production, pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
Christina Berger

Banking Business Administrator
Christina Berger is a trained banking business administrator and worked in the credit sector for 10 years.
Since 2010, Ms. Berger has been employed as a senior manager at CMP in the commercial application department, advising on subsidies. In addition to the commercial processing of application management, her responsibilities include the commercial preparation of subsidy applications through to their final submission, in close cooperation with the customer and the relevant authorities.
Gary Huck

Gary Huck has been a Senior Technical Consultant at CMP since 2023 and advises companies at a technical level on proposal management. In addition to assessing the eligibility of projects, this includes drafting idea papers, project outlines and project descriptions in accordance with guidelines. He has particular expertise in supporting applications for research grants.
Maximilian Pohl

He found his way to CMP during his search for a practice partner and worked as a junior consultant for CMP as part of a dual study program.
In 2025, he completed his studies and joined CMP as a senior consultant in commercial application management, where he works closely with clients and the relevant authorities to manage applications at a commercial level.

Architect, energy efficiency expert
Braun has been self-employed with the architectural office zeitRAUM since 2005.
ZeitRAUM offers its clients consulting services in various areas such as energy consulting, implementation planning and design planning. In the course of this, Mr. Roland Braun is an energy efficiency expert accredited by the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) and has been supporting CMP with his expertise since 2025 in preparing technical project descriptions and technical project certificates as part of the federal funding for efficient buildings (BEG).
